Services
The primary services that I provide
Don't see exactly what you are looking for? If it's in the vfx space I am sure I can handle it. Reach out with any questions.
VFX Supervisor
Being a visual effects supervisor is more than just coordinating artists, it's solving problems.

Ideally the VFX supervisor is brought in for the pre-production phase where I would coordinate with other departments to see where vfx and practical elements merge. On set during production, myself and potential team will collect on set data to be used in the post production process and coordinate with the camera department to make sure everything is shot in a manner to best assist the vfx artist/artists. During post-production, with my connections to various vfx houses outside of the country, I will handle putting together your vfx team at the lowest possible rate and will coordinate all the vfx side of the post-production for you. All you need to do is communicate your needs to me and I will handle the rest.

What separates me from the rest is my knowledge not only in all stages of the vfx process from fx to cg and shading to compositing, but my intuitive knowledge in all aspects of film making. This allows me to properly oversee every level of the vfx process in post-production as well as properly supervising my department on set and being able to adapt and make adjustments where needed on the fly.
On-Set VFX Supervision
If you solely need someone to be on set during production to make sure everything is properly captured for vfx artists later on, I would be more than happy and capable to help you. I of course have the usual gear such as a HDRI chrome and matte sphere and Macbeth color charts, but I also have lidar scanning equipment and 360 degree cameras and witness cameras.

Having a extensive vfx background and knowledge in all areas of the vfx pipeline allows me to know exactly what data your vfx artists will need from set as well as how they are going to want you to shoot it and organize it.

Time on set where a vfx shot is not being filmed I will spend collecting as much on set data as possible (3D photogrammetry and lidar scans, photos, videos, etc.), organizing data collected and creating vfx mockups from dailies that can be super helpful when presenting them to future vfx artists.

No 'free time' will be wasted.

Compositing
Contrary to what people outside of the vfx space might believe, I strongly believe that compositing is both the most important stage in the vfx process as well as the most difficult to master. A good compositor, when provided with the correct data and cg passes, can both elevate a fully cg shot way beyond what came out of the render as well as create vfx shots much more believable than what most cg artists can create, but even more important, a good compositor with a properly set up comp can allow for quicker turn around times and revisions than what can be provided from cg artist and their renders.

I have more than 10 years behind my compositing skills and I know tons of tricks of the trade to help deliver your vfx shot to you quickly and with professional quality.

I have the ability to create professional composites and I believe that comes from my creative technical thinking, problem solving and familiarity with the software and tools, but I also believe it comes from my ability to know when something looks right and more importantly when and why something looks wrong.
CG, FX and Simulations
As a seasoned visual effects artist, I specialize in creating cutting-edge CG environments, photorealistic FX, and dynamic simulations. Whether it's crafting lifelike digital characters, generating complex particle systems, or simulating natural elements like fire, water, and smoke, I deliver high-quality visual effects that enhance storytelling and elevate your project to new heights. My expertise in industry-leading tools ensures seamless integration of visual effects into live-action footage, providing a polished and immersive final product tailored to your creative vision.

Having knowledge of the the whole vfx pipeline and what passes and data the compositor will want from me as a cg artist allows the whole vfx pipeline to work quickly and efficiently.
Virtual Production
It seems most virtual production technicians come from the cinematography side of the industry. What sets me apart is the combination of knowledge from cinematography, technical camera knowledge and the vfx world allowing me to get the most out of your virtual production shoot.

I can help you create your Unreal Engine world, setup your virtual production system and help you the day of the your virtual production shoot to run Unreal Engine.
AI Image
Manipulation and Generation
With both a degree in filmmaking as well as a degree in computer science machine learning, I have a lot of knowledge when it comes to machine learning in the vfx field.

My introduction to using machine learning in vfx was from the early days of generative ai in vfx, using a Deepfake in 2017 to replace the face of someone in the Drex Carter music video Nandina with someone who had passed away.

I am frequently training bespoke models on larger vfx projects to help speed up and enhance my vfx workflow while maintaining proper bit depth, quality and control that general models aren't
able to provide.

One Man VFX Team
Because most VFX artists in the studio and film world specialize in one section of the VFX workflow, most films and commercials need to hire a VFX studio with tens to hundreds of employees to complete even a single VFX shot. For that reason, even a simple composite-only VFX shot can quickly balloon into thousands of dollars. While this traditional approach has its benefits, primarily speed, many lower-budget projects simply cannot afford to go this route.

As a skilled VFX generalist, I can tackle any problem you need at a fraction of the cost. This approach will be the most affordable option for you, provided your project has the time.

What sets me apart from other VFX generalists, aside from my attention to detail and technical ability, is that I am not an 'influencer' VFX artist. My skills are firmly rooted in the professional VFX workflow and are seamlessly integrated with your post-production team. I understand color spaces, I use CG passes for flexibility in compositing, and I know exactly what data needs to be collected on set to make the best possible product as efficiently as possible. I understand that the producer wants things done quickly and cheaply, while the director wants the best possible result.
If you think a one-person VFX team is the right fit for your project, then I believe I am the person for the job.
Equipment and Kit
All kit and equipment, unless other wised specified, is included.
This mostly pertains to on set equipment but I'll briefly mention my post-production setup as well.
On-Set
Macbeth Color Chart
This is used on set to help match CG elements to the colors and light intensity of the scene.
Matte and Chrome Spheres
These are used to matched the lighting directions and shadows in your scene as well as to get a 360 reference.
Camera Lens Distortion Grid
This is used to map the distortion of each lens used during production. Using this information you can undistort the footage for more accurate tracking as well as having a more accurate composite where the vfx elements distort properly with the footage.
360 Cameras
Insta360 X4
These are used to matched the lighting directions and shadows in your scene as well as to get a 360 reference. Also great for a reference camera especially for 3D tracking.
Camera
Sony Alpha 7C
Used to capture useful information on set, like photos for photogrammetry, pictures of materials that can be used for CG, references for an environment or used as a witness camera.
Lidar Scanner
3D Einstar Handheld
Used to quickly create high detailed and accurate 3D models.
Mobile Outside In Camera Tracking System
This system is a separate system for accurate camera tracking. I have a infrared laser system called the HTC Mars. It is limited in it's daytime applications, but can be useful in certain situations.
Wireless DMX Board and Lights
I have a wireless DMX board that can be used on set in conjunction with RGB led lights for lights on set that need to be timed to effects.
Custom Raspberry PI Based Trigger system
This system is a highly customizable and programable setup. If a visual effect requires a perfectly timed light to go off on a actor based trigger such as when they press a button, this could be an option. A favorite for this is I have several prop weapons rigged with a front mounted orange LED, the battery and components are stored in the clip or magazine. I can program the light to activate on a pull of the trigger and I can customize if it is a single or multi fire weapon and the rate of fire. Now the scene will properly light from the muzzle.
Powerful Laptop
VFX Supervisor
Grip Van
Used for storing and organizing data on set as well as doing mock up vfx to present to a director as production is being filmed.
A mobile vfx office that can be worked out of as well as used to transport gear to set.
Specialty Offroad
Grip 4x4 SUV
Some jobs are filmed in hard to access terrain. In this case it might be a better idea to bring the specialty vehicle that is equipped for VFX supervision but also is equipped to traverse difficult terrain.
Various Specialty VFX Equipment
This obviously is broad but includes things like a scattered laser pointer used to quickly throw up tracking markers on set for quick turn around times or for projectors for specialty effects etc.
Various General Grip and Gaffer Equipment
Your standard things like extension cords, C-Stands, sand bags, lights, gaff tape etc.
Post Production Edit Bay
Multiple Powerful Workstations
Several high end workstations, 1 built out with focus on graphics cards and a multi core cpu for 3D rendering, AI model training and simulations as well as graphics card leveraged compositors and another with a high clock speed CPU in mind for CPU single thread leveraged compositors. Also as mentioned, the high end laptop.
Specialty 4k HDR Playback Screen
A special monitor specifically for playback and review.
Specialty Grayed Out Room
The edit bay is specifically painted in a 18% neutral gray for optimal ambient lighting for playback.
Minor Green Screen and Virtual Studio Capabilites
The edit bay also contains a low end greenscreen and virtual production studio, it is nothing major but is great for quickly capturing real world elements to be used in compositing. I also have connections to a high end studio in Orlando (Iron Pixel Studios) for projects with more major requirements.
NAS Server
A custom NAS server to help store, distribute and backup footage all ran on a 10gb network.

Kit is included but travel and boarding is typically not.
These prices are not guaranteed depending on your project.
Bounty Board
This is pretty much the straight forward way to get a discounted rate. The name "bounty board" comes from the idea that these are areas of the industry or projects I would like to work on and there for, I am willing to work for less.
This will depend heavily on my schedule and the project in question, but for the time being I will consider stacking these in projects where they cross over up to 90%.
Kit is included but travel and lodging is typically not.
